I had the privilege of working with some wonderful Perth Creatives in October and organising this amazing styled shoot. As a photographer I have always loved certain parts of a wedding day. This was the inspiration for the shoot “The Bride Prepares.” I’m not talking about the literal preparation of hair and make up and getting into the dress. I’m talking about the mental preparation in the few moments between when the veil and been put on and she, the bride, is ready to meet her groom. Sometimes there is a nervous wait for the limo to arrive and other times there can be a last minute rush to make sure everything is ready (bags, flowers, speeches … who is looking after who or what during the reception … did so and so remember to call someone about unlocking the church … you get the picture).
I encourage my brides to be ready well before the limo arrives. To give themselves time after they are ‘ready’ to take a breath, look in the mirror and just take in all in. As this is happening I can stand back and take photos as a fly on the wall, capturing those moments of final preparation, the adjustment of the veil, a check of the hair. Â I also take more posed shots during this time, but it gives the bride time to relax, space to think and a moment to enjoy to herself before she marries her groom.
I’m so thankful and blessed to have been able to work with such an awesome group of businesses for this shoot. A big thank you to those involved especially to my mum and mum in law who helped out babysitting my girls!
