I'm so happy you are here! I'm Eileen, and I help mothers be in their photos and share their stories with their kids and those they love. I've been married to my husband Matt for (almost) 16years, and we have three energetic, courageous, talkative daughters and three rescue cats, Bridie (the smoochy one), Zeke (we call him Zeke the Sleek) and Pip (partBengall, part crazy.)
My favourite things include dessert (any time of the day), loud music for dancing, nature walks and early bedtimes (mainly for the kids ... but also for myself sometimes!) I'm also 'that mum' who will get up an hour before her kids so she can 'get stuff done' (pack school lunches, anyone?) so as not to be rushed in the morning. Also, I am getting distracted by social media and leaving most of the morning routine to the last 10 minutes.
I got into photography when I was planning my wedding. I was taken with all the beautiful wedding photos I looked through trying to choose our wedding photographer. I couldn't believe people did this as a job! After we were married, I started reading anything about photography I could get my hands on and borrowing cameras to practice with. When I graduated from university (I have a double BA in Arts: Drama and Performance and Education), my husband bought me my first camera. I started teaching full-time in 2011, and that same year, I photographed my first wedding.
Since then, I've changed schools, bought a house, had three kids, curated a client wardrobe and transitioned to focus mainly on photographing families. Most days, you will find me juggling all the things and finding time to fit in a bush walk.
What I love most about photos (and now films) is their power to bring us back to a moment. We must remember parts of our lives that make up our stories and share them with our children. To show them how loved and cherished they are. I know how much my kids love looking through their baby books and watching the films I've done for them. And that's what I want to give you—those moments to remember with your children, now and in the future.
1. I don't drink coffee (gasp!) but I will still say yes when asked "Let's go out for coffee!" Coffee just means 'a hot drink.'
2. A friend got me into reading fiction again recently (and I'm loving it!) But audiobooks are my fave way to consume one.
3. In summer, Sunday mornings are for sunrise walks at Mullaloo Beach.
4. I write with my left hand but use my right hand for almost everything else (like tennis, throwing a ball, using a computer mouse...)
5. Favourite movie of all time? Ever After. Hands down one of the best live-action fairytale movies.
6. A TV show I constantly rewatch? Community.
7. My enneagram number is 4. I could talk to you all day about this if you ask.
8. My hidden talent is juggling...and teaching people how to do it! Scarves are my go-to juggling apparatus of choice.
9. If I had to eat one dish every day for the rest of my life, it would be a Vietnamese chicken noodle salad (with extra coriander please!)
10. I loved being pregnant but struggled hard through newborn baby life (did someone say undiagnosed post-natal depression for 4 years?) Things turned around when I got professional help. I'm always happy to talk to new mums about this and let them know they are not alone.
