You are sitting down with your family, flipping through a photo album filled with smiles, laughter, and love. Each photo captures a precious moment, a connection. They allow you to relive the joy and connection that define your family. These images are more than just pictures; they are poignant reminders of the bonds you share, meant to be cherished for generations.
Photos are a gift you can give yourself today and to your children for the rest of their lives. It's your legacy, beautifully framed.
Custom portrait sessions are up to 60 mins. This is plently of time to capture those all important "everyone looking at the camera and smiling" photos, using the majority of the time to have fun, play games and explore while I take candid photos of you being uniquely you, together.
Extended Family sessions last up to 80 mins, as there are generally more groups to get through. I work with you before the session to ensure we have a shot list so we don't miss anyone. We also arrange the groups depending on the time of day, so that any young children can be at the best for the photos and not rushed into it before they are ready.
When they are ready! (dad humour for the win!)
Galleries are ready to view 2-3 weeks after the shoot date. This is when you can look through the watermarked images and select your favourites. Next, I send you the high-resolution images with no watermark and they are yours to love and cherish forever!
Moving Portrait Films are ready within 4-6 weeks of the shoot date. These take longer because I am looking for music to suit the film, editing, colour grading and exporting which generally takes longer than still images. But its definitely worth the wait!
Absolutely I do! And prints in all shapes and sizes! Just ask and I can send you through a price list.
To give your photos a harmonious feel, I suggest you choose a clothing colour palette that works with your chosen location. For example, if your session is in a natural bushland area (think a national park) you will want to wear tan, beige, pale blue, white, sage or olive green etc. Denim is a great neutral fabric that can be worn by any member of the family. Using an accent colour through each outfit ties each family member in. Scarves, socks, hair accessories and jewellery are great ways to add in your accent colour. All my clients receive a Style Guide that goes into more detail about what to wear and how to coordinate family members with examples from clients of mine.
For Custom Sessions, you will have access to my client wardrobe with heaps of options for women and their daughters. I have hand-picked these dresses and know what photographs well. Together, we will coordinate and plan outfits that work harmoniously without being too matchy matchy.
The simple answer is we look at rescheduling, depending on both parties availability.
Weather-wise, I keep a keen eye on the weather leading up to every shoot. I stay in contact with you to either reassure or to make a decision. If this doesn’t work, we can look at changing locations. I have done family sessions where we have had to take a quick break in our cars or under umbrellas while some light rain fell. It all depends on you and what you are comfortable with.
Because its the most beautiful time of day! If you have ever gotten married or had family photos before, you probably have heard that Golden Hour is the ideal time for photos. You get that dreamy golden light and softer shadows that are perfect for family photos. So if sunset is at 6 pm, we would start your session at 5 pm. It’s best to arrive 10 minutes before your session in case parking is more difficult (should your location be busy) or if there is a walk from the car park to the actual shooting location.
Autumn and Spring are the best seasons to shoot if you have small children as the sun sets a bit earlier, and the weather is still warm. During summer, golden hour is much later and may suit families with older children.
That being said - I have seen countless times kids LOVE this time being out in nature and exploring. It just adds to the magic of the memory.
I get it. Most guys aren’t jazzed about the idea of getting their photos taken. This might be because of a previous bad experience. Or they don’t know what to expect and why it’s so important to you. Take some time to communicate with your man to educate and explain why these photos are important to you. Show him my website and your favourite sessions. Explain why you love them and what it would mean to you to have that experience and those photos of the family together.
The most common thing I hear from guys before photo sessions is the following. Because of a bad experience in the past, they don’t like taking photos or don’t think they’ll be good at it. By the time I’m done, though, they can’t believe how fast it went and just how much fun they had!
A wonderful serenity has taken possession of my entire soul, like these sweet mornings of spring which I enjoy with my whole heart. I am alone, and feel the charm of existence in this spot, which was created for the bliss of souls like mine. I am so happy, my dear friend, so absorbed in the exquisite sense of mere tranquil existence, that I neglect my talents.
